DUDLEY -- Horace "D.J." Battle Jr., 41, 107 Timber Drive, Dudley, succumbed to master's call Wednesday at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.
He was born Dec. 5, 1971, to Horace Battle Sr. and Anecia Moore Battle in Wayne County.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Original Tabernacle of Prayer For All People, with elder Donald Sutton officiating. His mortal frame will be laid to rest with military honors in Wayne Memorial Park.
In addition to his parents, his memory is cherished by his devoted wife, Anna Young Battle of the home; his children Destiny Battle of Dongducheon, South Korea, Carolyn Blackmon of Dudley, Jeffrey Young of Polkton, N.C., Jamaal Young of Pasco, Wash., Sylvia Evans of Dudley and Christopher Lee Evans of Pasco, Wash.; nine grandchildren, including Daisiah Stewart of the home; grandmother, Adel Moore of Dudley, N.C.; siblings, Benicia Battle of Raleigh, N.C. and Eric Battle Raleigh, N.C.; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Friday from 2 to 7 p.m., with the family present to receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m., at Haskins Funeral Home in Goldsboro.
