Bobby Neal Houston Jr., 51, Goldsboro, N.C., passed away Monday, Dec. 2, 2013, after a short, but courageous, battle with cancer.

Bobby is survived by his two children, Amanda Michelle Houston of Raleigh, N.C., and Matthew Neal Houston of Goldsboro, N.C.; parents, Bobby Sr. and Mickey Houston of Fayetteville, N.C.; siblings, Steve Houston of Jacksonville, Fla., and Betty Brown of Fayetteville, N.C.; niece, Claire Brown of Fayetteville, N.C.; extended family, Scott and Tammy Campbell, and sons, Brandon and Ryan, of Goldsboro, N.C.; and a host of loving family members and many gracious friends.

Bobby was born March 28, 1962, in Peru, Ind.

He graduated from Pine Forest High School in 1980.

Bobby was employed with Time Warner Cable.

He enjoyed time outdoors fishing, tinkering with his Mustang, gold prospecting with his family and spending quality time with friends.

He was a loving, devoted father, who passionately cherished his children. He was also a dear friend to many, and took pride in everything he set out to accomplish. His warm and compassionate character enlightened the hearts of everyone he met.

A formal memorial has been arranged for Sunday, Dec. 8, at 2 p.m. at Cumberland Union Baptist Church in Fayetteville, N.C.

An informal celebration of life will be scheduled at a later time.

Flowers may be sent to the church or, in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Cape Fear Valley Hospice or Cape Fear Valley Cancer Center in his memory.
