DUDLEY -- Esther Lee Millard Bryan, 85, Dudley, passed away Thanksgiving day at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

She was born to the late Clarence Millard and Weasie Best Millard in Wayne County.

Her sister, Frances Walters, and brother, William Ira "Billy" Millard, preceded her in death.

May 5, 1946, she married the love of her life, Leon A. Bryan, who preceded her in death April 5, 2013. Their marriage of true love lasted 67 years.

Mrs. Bryan worked for many years with her husband at Bryan Auto Salvage as a bookkeeper.

She served as president on the Goldsboro Rescue Squad Auxiliary, and was an outstanding seamstress.

The role she was most proud of was being a loving mother and wife.

Visitation will be held at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home Saturday, Nov. 30, at 2 p.m.

A graveside service will follow at 3 p.m. in Wayne Memorial Park, with the Rev. Jeff Daughtry officiating.

Mrs. Bryan is survived by three daughters, Phyllis Hartzog and husband, Keith, of Dudley, Dolly Berge and husband, Jon, of Grifton and Everette Johnson and husband, William, of Goldsboro; four grandchildren, Kelly Jernigan, Jessica Lee Hartzog, Kim Johnson and Teresa Johnson; four great-grandchildren, including Cameron Jernigan; and a great-great-grandchild.
