DILLARD RAY HAM

Mr. Dillard Ray Ham, 65, Rosewood, died Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013, at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

Born Nov. 14, 1947, in Hood Swamp, he was the son of the late George and Ethelene Ham.

He was employed for more than 30 years in the wire mill at Carolina Welds of Goldsboro, a division of the General Electric Corp. He retired in 2001.

A devoted husband, father and grandfather, Dillard relished the outdoors, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

A true "jack-of-all-trades," he could build or repair almost anything mechanical.

His favorite place to be in the world was in his fishing boat on a lake, pond, river or stream with his best friend and fishing buddy, Greg Turnage.

Funeral services will be held at Howell Funeral Home Chapel Thursday, Nov. 14, at 2 p.m. Bill English will officiate. Interment will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.

Mr. Ham is survived by his wife, Peggy Lewis Ham of the home; a son, David L. Lott and wife, Ann Brna-Lott, of Farmville; a daughter, Karen Michelle Lott of Goldsboro; two grandchildren, Sarah and Benjamin Lott, of Monroe, Mich.; and two brothers, James Ham of Goldsboro and David Best of Chapel Hill.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, Nov. 13, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Howell Funeral Home, located at 1500 Wayne Memorial Drive in Goldsboro.
