MOUNT OLIVE -- Esther Holland Kearney, 93, Mount Olive, passed away Tuesday evening at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

She was the daughter of the late Henry and Vertie Holloman Holland, and the widow of the late Walter Bruce Kearney.

Mrs. Kearney was a member of Pink Hill Free Will Baptist Church, and was a retired quality control inspector for General Electric.

A funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home, with the Rev. Don Craft officiating. A committal service will follow at Mewborn Primitive Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Kearney is survived by a brother, George Holland; a daughter-in-law, Eleanor Kearney Gooding; a granddaughter, Halye Rarick and husband, Michael; four grandsons, Hank, Bruce and Bob Kearney and Walter Phipps; five great-grandsons, Jimmy, Patrick, Ryan, Kyle and Matthew Kerney; five great-granddaughters, Terra Callahan, Kayla Wardein, Tiffany Kearney, Brianna Kearney and Brianna Spivey; a great-great-grandson, Jacob Callahan; and a special friend, Barbara Baldwin.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Kearney was preceded in death by a daughter, Annette Kearney Hull; a son, Walter Henry Kearney; a brother, Herman Holland; and two sisters, Hazel Hatch and Ann Gurley.
