AUBREY DANIEL 'A.D.' QUINN

Died Oct. 9, 2013

Aubrey Daniel "A.D." Quinn, 81, a lifelong resident of Duplin County, passed peacefully at Carolina East Quinn Hospice Care Center Wednesday night, Oct. 9, after having lived a wonderful and fulfilling life. He showed exceptional strength, courage and faith in God during his year-long illness.

A service to celebrate his life will be held Saturday, Oct. 12, at 5 p.m. at Mount Olive First Pentecostal Holiness Church, with pastor Doug Bartlett and pastor Jeff Dail officiating.

Family visitation will follow the service.

Preceding A.D. in death were his parents, Margaret and Simon Quinn Sr., and two brothers, Leroy and Simon (June) Quinn Jr.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Peggy Roberts Quinn; two daughters, Sylvia Lee Quinn and husband, John Grigsby, of Leland and Phillis Sue Quinn Ostheim and husband, Mark, of the Beautancus community; five grandchildren and their families, including Christel Ostheim Mozingo and husband, Graham, Joshua Brown; Amber Ostheim, Bethany Brown and Garrett Ostheim and wife, Crystal; and two great-granddaughters, Brianna Mozingo and Aubrey Ostheim.

A.D. was proud to work the farm, and excelled as a master automobile mechanic.

He will be fondly remembered for his zest for life, devotion to his church and love of people.

He had a special affinity for animals, especially dogs, and enjoyed gardening and working outdoors.

He lived a life of untiring efforts, and exemplified hard-work values of determination, industriousness and integrity.

His love and compassion for humanity is seen in his request that his body be given for study to The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University in Greenville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the A.D. and Peggy Quinn Endowment at James Sprunt Community College Foundation Inc., P.O. Box 398, Kenansville, N.C., 28349, or Mount Olive First Pentecostal Holiness Church, 130 Ed Edmundson Road, Mount Olive, N.C., 28365.
