MOUNT OLIVE -- Janet Scott Herring Howard, 66, died Saturday, Sept. 28, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center of Goldsboro.
Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, at Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive, officiated by Bishop Paul E. Fredriksen and Bishop Joseph E. Scott, and followed by visitation.
Committal and entombment will be Monday, Sept. 30, at 10 a.m. at Devotional Gardens of Warsaw.
Friends and family are also being received at the residence in the Pleasant Grove community.
Mrs. Howard, widow of Larry Howard, and daughter of the late Taft and Mary Lou Scott Herring, was a retired civil service employee at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Albertson Ward, where she was active in many church callings, namely, primary teacher, primary pianist, relief society pianist, and church choir member.
Quite active in the Pleasant Grove community, she had been a member of Pleasant Grove Fire Department's Ladies Auxiliary since its inception, and was trustee of Pleasant Grove Community Building.
She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Stephanie Howard, and Patrick Howard, all of Mount Olive; a brother, D.C. "Bill" Herring of Mount Olive; several nieces and nephews, and her beloved brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Herring Kornegay.
