PIKEVILLE -- Bobby J. Fields, 76, passed away Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013, at Wayne Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Bobby was born in Wayne County Sept. 26, 1937, to the late Howard Fields and Alice Frances Fields.
He graduated from Nahunta High School fourth in his class.
Bobby worked 28 years at Coble Dairy of Goldsboro, where he retired.
He served in the army for two years, where he made his mother proud.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Barry Stallings officiating. Interment will take place Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
Bobby is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Edna Gurley Fields; his children, Ricky L. Fields and Alice F. Fields and her fiancé, Robert F. Bragg Jr.; sister, Frances Barnes; and niece, Fran Melvin and husband, Chet, of Raleigh.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Goldie Pierce; brother-in-law, Rudy Barnes; and a host of other relatives and loved ones.
The family will receive friends Wednesday following the service at Seymour Funeral Home and at other times at the residence.
