GRACE G. DAVIS

PIKEVILLE -- Grace Gardner Davis, 82, went to be with her Lord early Wednesday morning at Wayne Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family.
Grace was born in Wayne County Aug. 27, 1931, to the late Mary Ida Blizzard Gardner and Thedie Gardner. Grace's mother passed away when she was a small child, and she was reared by her stepmother, Nina Pate Gardner, whom she loved as her mother.
Grace had been a member of Free Chapel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church for more than 50 years.
In 2001, she became a member of The First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Goldsboro. She was devoted to her church, and was involved in many activities where she utilized her gifts and abilities to share the love of God.
Grace was a caring, loving parent whose primary goal was the happiness and security of her family, but she had also worked with J.P. Stevens and Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Grace leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love and support for the people she cared about. She was the kindest and most loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a great friend to everyone. Grace will be missed by all who were blessed enough to know her.
A celebration of Grace's life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at The First Pentecostal Holiness Church, with pastor Bill Rose and the Rev. Dock Hobbs officiating.
The family will greet friends immediately following the service in the front lobby of the church.
Interment will be held in Pikeville Cemetery following the service and visitation.
Grace is survived by her husband of 64 years, Leslie Edward Davis; daughters, Ginny Davis Smith and husband, David, of Wilmington and Robin Davis Aycock and husband, Walton, of Princeton; son, Ricky M. Davis and wife, Donna, of Pikeville; sisters, Esther Lancaster and husband, J.R., of Pikeville, Betty Jean Corbett and husband, Donald, of Goldsboro, Arlene Gardner of Pikeville and Linda Casey and husband, Ben, of Goldsboro; sisters-in-law, Anna Rose Gardner and Dorothy Gardner; and brother-in-law, Jimmy Grantham.
She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Jill Davis Gunter and husband, Trey, Timothy Davis and wife, Stephanie, Hannah Aycock Niemasz and husband, Jon, Jenna Aycock, Matthew Smith and Anna Grace Smith; great-grandchildren, Tyler Davis, Payton Gunter, Addison Gunter, Kyle Davis and Brennan Gunter; as well as many nieces and nephews she loved very dearly.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant sons, Leslie Edward Davis Jr., Leslie Warren Davis and Leslie Darren Davis; sister, Mary Lou Grantham; and brothers, James E. "Hoss" Gardner, George Gardner and wife, Carol, and Thedie Gardner.
