Helen Mae Medford, 90, went to be with her Lord and savior Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Homegoing services will be held Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013, at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro. Entombment will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.

Mrs. Medford was born in Wayne County Nov. 11, 1922, to the late Offie and Susan Phillips Strickland.

She was a member of Brogden Chapel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.

She is survived by four daughters, Linda Turner of Goldsboro, Janet Crouse and husband, Daniel, of Texas, Mary Carrier and husband, David, of Tennessee and Helen Williams and husband, Don, of Pikeville; a son, Steven Godwin and wife, Kay, of Wilmington; nine grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and six sisters, Dorothy Stone of Raleigh, Eunice Daniels of Mount Olive, Mary Jane Herring of Mount Olive, Grace Stone of Newton Grove, Margaret Ann Porter of Farmville and Virginia Crim of Florence, S.C.

In addition to her husband, Billie B. Medford, Mrs. Medford was preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred Watts and Shirley Ballree, and two brothers, Milford Strickland and Bennie Strickland.

The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro.
