PEGGY MURPHY PAGE
April 21, 1938-July 23, 2013
KINSTON -- Tuesday, July 23, 2013, Peggy Murphy Page passed away peacefully after a five-year battle with cancer, and is now with her Lord and savior.
Peggy will be joining her late husband, Bill Page, who passed away in 2008.
Peggy was born April 21, 1938, to the late Emmet and Ethel Murphy of Kinston, N.C., and was raised by her maternal grandparents, Will and Flossie Brown.
Peggy spent her youth in Kinston, along with her 11 brothers and sisters.
She is survived by seven of these siblings, including sisters, Mary White, Edna Reynolds, Faye Moore and Arlene Ferren, and brothers, Harry Murphy, Kent Murphy and Buster Murphy.
Peggy and Bill lived in Goldsboro for more than 25 years, where Peggy worked at Wayne Pharmacy.
She loved to spend time growing and preserving vegetables, and would spend days cooking some of the biggest holiday feasts you would have ever seen.
She and Bill helped many friends and family over the years, and they never met a stranger.
In 1985, Peggy and Bill retired to Kinston to be close to her parent's.
Peggy was a active member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Kinston, where one of her favorite activities was hearing the church choir sing.
Peggy's survivors include her daughter, Paula Pittman and husband, James; sons, Charles O'Neal and wife, Dorothy, William O'Neal and wife, Janet, and Randy Page and wife, Sarah; stepdaughter, Grace Hall; stepson, Toby Page; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. and funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 26, 2013, at First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Kinston, N.C., with the Rev. William O'Neal officiating. Graveside service will be held at Pinelawn Memorial Park immediately afterward.
Howard Carter Funeral is in charge of the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 930-B Wellness Drive Greenville, N.C., 27834.
