LETTIE 'LOU' WILSON CASEY

March 24, 1929-July 21, 2013

PRINCETON -- Lettie "Lou" Wilson, 84, Old Hinton Road, Princeton, died Sunday at her home.

She was born March 24, 1929, and was the daughter of the late Edmond Garland Wilson and Lucille Stephenson Wilson. She was the widow of Willis Frederick Casey.

Mrs. Casey was also preceded in death by a daughter, Wanda Bjork, and a grandson, William Garrett Bjork.

She was a member of Princeton Baptist Church, where she had served as Sunday school teacher for more than 20 years, teacher's assistant for public schools for 13 years, a charter member of Princeton Women's Improvement Club and a Brownie leader for many years.

She led fundraisers for leukemia, cancer and heart associations, and she contributed articles and poems to the Smithfield Herald since 1946.

The funeral service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday evening at the chapel of Casey Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dwayne Batten and the Rev. Chris Casey officiating. The committal service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday morning at Princeton Cemetery.

She is survived by a son, Rodney Willis Casey of Princeton; two daughters, Karen C. Watkins of Princeton and Sherri C. Whitman of Kenansville; a sister, Larue Olive of Benson; 10 grandchildren, Heather Hill, Jenny Moore, Tanner Bjork, Emily Sorrell, Travis Evans, Ruskin Edwards, Seth Edwards, Austin Casey, Brianna Hartsfield and Erika Salinas; and seven great-grandchildren, Hayden, Landon, Tyler, Dylan, Justus, Aliya and Adrian.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday prior to the funeral and immediately following the service.
