James E. Artis, 53, 407 Linwood Ave., died Tuesday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
Funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Eastern Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be in Spruill Family Cemetery in Pikeville.
He was born July 12, 1959, to Esther Mae Artis and Walter Smith in Johnston County. He was married to Evelyn Artis.
He is survived by two daughters.
Visitation will be Friday from 2 to 6 p.m. at Haskins Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the home, where it will also assemble in preparation for the funeral procession.
