Mrs. Julia M. Ward, 74, affectionately known by her family and friends as "Puddin," 1014 S. Best St., Goldsboro, N.C., departed her earthly life Monday, May 6, 2013, at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Goldsboro, N.C.

Julia was born in Wayne County, N.C., Feb. 9, 1939, to the late Mr. Ira Braswell and Mrs. Julia Rowe Braswell.

She received her education in Wayne County public schools, where she attended Friendship High School in Fremont, N.C.

Mrs. Ward was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Suluvan Ward, and siblings, Mr. Ivory Ray Braswell, Mr. James Lee Braswell, Mrs. Pennia Coley and Mr. Elroy Braswell.

Funeral service will be conducted Saturday, May 11, 2013, at noon at McIntyre Funeral Home chapel, 900 S. George St., Goldsboro, N.C. The Rev. Brenda Lewis will officiate.

Prior to the funeral, the visitation and public viewing will be held Saturday morning, May 11, 2013, at McIntyre Funeral Home chapel, 900 S. George St., Goldsboro, N.C., from 11 to 11:50 a.m.

Mrs. Ward leaves to mourn her loving and precious memories a daughter, Sharlie Francine Madison of Temple Hills, Md.; two grandchildren, Katina Frederica Cooper of Forestville, Md., and Frederick Kirk Madison II of Temple Hills, Md.; three grandchildren, ShaDiamond Moesha Madison, Carmen Catherine Clarine Cooper and Vaughn William Thomas Cooper II; a son-in-law, Frederick K. Madison; and a grandson-in-law, Vaughn T. Cooper.

Also, she is survived by her siblings, Mary Edmundson, Jimmy Ray and Willard Braswell of Baltimore, Md., Bertha Collins of Jacksonville, N.C., and Leroy Braswell of New York, N.Y., and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family will assemble Saturday, May 11, 2013, at the residence of the late Mrs. Julia Ward, 1014 S. Best St., Goldsboro, N.C., an hour prior to the visitation at 9:55 a.m. in preparation for the funeral procession.
