STANTONSBURG -- Robert Earl Denton, 72, went peacefully to be with the Lord on Friday, April 12, 2013, after an 11 month battle with cancer.
The service will be conducted at Stantonsburg Pentecostal Holiness Church on Sunday, April 14, 2013, at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Patsy Jones, the Rev. Tony Hawley and the Rev. Tyler Jernigan officiating. Interment will be at Stantonsburg Town Cemetery.
Mr. Denton attended Stantonsburg Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was a retired farmer who still loved gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Denton; daughter, Donna Denton Shingleton and husband, Timothy, of Stantonsburg; sons, Audie Lee Denton of Stantonsburg, Paul Earl Denton and wife, Deborah, of Oakboro; sisters, Esther Poythress and Ruby Smith, both of Wilson; brother, Daniel Denton of Stantonsburg; grandchildren, Ashley Marie Shingleton, Allison Michelle Shingleton, Robbie Denton and wife, Kelli, Jeremy Gay and wife, Amanda, Audie Lee Denton Jr. and wife, Brittany; great-grandchildren, Hali Grace Denton, Joy Annalise Gay, Kaylee Lynn Denton, Bethany Hope Denton, Taylor Michelle Denton and Aiden Michael Peditto; and several special nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 2 to 3 p.m.
