Barbara Kleinert Stallings, 77, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, from 10 until 11 a.m. at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a celebration of Barbara's life at 11 a.m. at the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with Phil Kleinert officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.
Barbara was born in Mullins, S.C. on Oct. 8, 1935, to the late Carl and Eutha Bailey Kleinert. She graduated from Goldsboro High School in 1954 and from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro Women's College in 1958 with a degree in Commercial Art and Art Education. Barbara also graduated from East Carolina University with a Masters in Art Education and painting, as well as a Masters in Supervision and Administration.
Barbara was a phenomenal artist who taught in the North Carolina Schools for over 30 years and dedicated her life to teaching and serving. She received many awards during her career including: First Union Secondary Educator of the Year, North Carolina Elementary Art Teacher of the Year, National Art Teacher of the Year Nominee and many first place ribbons from competitions throughout North Carolina.
Barbara is survived by her children, Henry Martin Jr., William Van Martin, and Kathryn Sonia Martin Holiday, and her late husband's daughters, Stacy and Kim Stallings. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Peter M. Stallings, and her sister, Estelle Kleinert.
