WALTER C. PATE

SEVEN SPRINGS -- Walter Carroll Pate, 73, Seven Springs, passed away Saturday evening at his residence.

He was born in Vanceboro, N.C., to the late George Selma and Pheberee Pate Brooks, and was the husband of Ann Pate.

Walter was retired from the United States Navy, and loved to play the banjo and bluegrass music.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home chapel, with the Rev. Ashley Summerlin officiating.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Pate is survived by three sons, Jesse Pate of Sioux Falls, S.D., Kelly Pate and wife, Tammy, of Rapid City, S.D., and Jimmy Worrells of Faison, N.C.; two daughters, Debbie Pate of Four Oaks and Chris Earp and husband, Chris, of Smithfield, N.C.; two brothers, Ronald Pate and wife, Lois Ann, of Vanceboro, N.C., and Donald Pate and wife, Lizanne, of New Bern, N.C.; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
