JACK REEVES

Jan. 6, 1928-Feb. 1, 2013

PRINCETON -- Jack Reeves, Princeton, passed from this realm to the next Friday, Feb. 1, at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.

He was born in State Shoales, Texas, a rural community near Paris, Texas, to Levi Tilmon Reeves and Iva Belle (McKay) Reeves Jan. 6, 1928.

At the age of 17 he joined the United States Air Force. He retired after 26 years at the highest enlisted rank of chief master sergeant.

He worked in the career field of aircraft mechanics, specializing in Jets. He served at many of the major United States bases, and was stationed in Panama, Japan during the Korean War and a subsequent tour following that war.

He met and married his wife, Betty Tedder, while she was in the Air Force in 1960.

Their daughter, Jackie Reeves, was born in 1961 while they were stationed in Denver, Colo.

Both Betty and Jackie passed away in 1999.

Jack was also predeceased by his mother and father; brothers, Chester Reeves and Russell Reeves; and a sister, Joyce Nelson.

He is survived by his sister, Peggy Rothwell of Hope, Ark.; brother, Larry Reeves of Dexter, N.M.; sisters-in-law, Alene Carter of Selma and JoAnn Tedder of Princeton; and a myriad of nieces and nephews of both the Reeves and Tedder families.

After retiring to Princeton in 1976, he had been a caring and loving friend to neighbors and relatives. It gave him much joy and satisfaction to be able to help and care for others. Those of us who loved him will always remember his thoughtfulness and kindness and willingness to help when needed or called upon.

A time to meet and greet Jack's friends and relatives will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday Feb. 6, followed by a memorial service at noon, conducted by the Rev. Dwayne Batten of Princeton Baptist Church at Casey Funeral Home chapel in Princeton.
