SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Jane Norfleet Smith Morgan, 73, passed away Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013.
Jane was born in Goldsboro Nov. 24, 1939, the daughter of the late James Norfleet Smith and Annie Battle Miller.
Jane grew up in Goldsboro and graduated from St. Mary's College in Raleigh and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she was a member of Tri Delta Sorority.
Jane was presented as a North Carolina Debutante.
She married Elford Hamilton Morgan and settled in Spartanburg, where she was an active member of Episcopal Church of the Advent and First Presbyterian Church.
Jane was devoted to the community, and was a member of the Junior League, Junior Reviewers Book Club, Margaret Moore Garden Club, Colonial Dames, The Assembly, Spartanburg Debutante Club and Spartanburg County Historical Association, as well as the Piedmont Club and Country Club of Spartanburg.
In addition to her loving husband, Elford, she is survived by her daughter, Anne Morgan Miller and husband, Paul, of Atlanta, Ga., as well as son, Elford Smith Morgan and wife, Elizabeth, of Spartanburg.
She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Hamilton, Allie Smith and Mary Chapman Miller of Atlanta and Elford West and Anna Morgan of Spartanburg.
Jane was preceded in death by brothers, Robert and James Smith.
She is survived by her sister, Ann Smith Hall and husband, Harold, of Raleigh; sister, Marjorie Clark and husband, Steve, of Goldsboro; brother, Henry Smith and wife, Kim, of Goldsboro; and brother, Kempton Smith and wife, Regina, of Lenoir.

A celebration of Jane Morgan's life was held Sunday, Jan. 27, at Episcopal Church of the Advent, with the Rev. J. Edward Morris officiating.
