TRUDY SANDFORD
Died Jan. 13, 2013
Trudy Sandford, 89, passed away Sunday afternoon at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
A private interment will take place at Willow Dale Cemetery, followed by a celebration of her life at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Drew Clark, the Rev. Carol Pierson and elder Emeritus Lindsay Warren presiding.
The family will greet friends following the service in McChesney Hall at First Presbyterian Church.
Trudy was a graduate of Goldsboro High School, and entered nursing training in Richmond, Va.
She returned to Goldsboro and worked at the Wayne County Health Department, where she managed the X-ray department until her retirement.
She lived a long and fulfilling life.
She had a love for all animals, especially cats, who were her constant companions.
Trudy had a love of art, and displayed many of her works at the health department.
Trudy had a great love for fishing, anywhere, anytime possible. She treasured the times spent with her numerous fellow fishermen, just communing with nature and solving the problems of the world. And if they caught fish, that was considered a bonus.
But her greatest love was her religious faith and her beloved church since childhood, First Presbyterian Church of Goldsboro. The church was a major part of her life, and she served as an example and inspiration to all who knew and loved her. She was truly a "child of God," and she will be sorely missed.
She is survived by her brother, Jerry Sandford and wife, Lois; nephew, Jeffrey Sandford and wife, Laura; and great-nephew, Grayson Sandford.
Trudy was preceded in death by her parents, Harwood Sandford and Sudie Sandford, and nephew, Philip Sandford.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Memorial Fund at First Presbyterian Church, 1101 E. Ash St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.
Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.seymourfuneralhome.com.
