Janet Hicks Malpass, 76, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, Dec. 24.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 27, at Stoney Creek Free Will Baptist Church in Goldsboro, with the Rev. Gary Bailey officiating. Visitation will follow the service. Internment will be held at 11 a.m. at Willow Dale Cemetery on Friday Dec. 28.

She was born in Wayne County to the late John Hicks and Mary Sasser Hicks. She graduated from Pikeville High School and Crumpler Business School. In 1962, she married her husband of 34 years, James Bruce "Pete" Malpass who preceded her in death on May 11, 1997. She was employed as a teller at BB&T for many years.

She is survived by two children, James Bruce Malpass Jr. of Goldsboro, William Kenneth Malpass (wife, Crystal) of Greenville; and two grandchildren, Will and Weston of Greenville; two sisters, Sandra Hicks Benton and husband, Bobby Benton, of Pikeville, and Johnnie Hicks Casey and husband, Roger Casey Jr., of Goldsboro.

She was a member of Stoney Creek Free Will Baptist Church, where she was very active in the Primetimers ministry and the Ambassador Sunday School Class.

The family would like to thank all of those who were involved in her care over the last year and the many friends and family who visited her during her illness.
