MOUNT OLIVE -- Eldress Willie Dazelle Matthews, 80, Winn Street, Mount Olive, departed her earthly life Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Goldsboro.

She was born in Duplin County Oct. 8, 1932, to the late Jesse and Annie Mellia Leach.

Eldress Matthews was a member of Stanley Chapel Free Will Baptist Chapel Church in Mount Olive.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, at 1 p.m. at St. Mark Free Will Baptist Church, 222 E. Nelson St., Mount Olive. Bishop J. E. Reddick will officiate. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive.

Also, a public viewing will be held Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at McIntyre Funeral Home, 900 S. George St., from 4 to 7 p.m. The family will be present from 6 to 7 p.m. to receive friends and other family members.

Eldress Matthews leaves to cherish her loving and precious memories two sons, Paul Leach of Mount Olive and Napoleon Matthews and wife, Gwyn, of Dudley; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a great-great grandson; two brothers, Dr. Donald A. Leach and wife, Doris, of Deep Run and Marcellous Leach of Goldsboro; two sisters, Edna Marie Wells and Elizabeth Wells and husband, John, all of Mount Olive; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family will assemble Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Napoleon Matthews, 3303 Arrington Bridge Road, Dudley, at 11:30 a.m. in preparation for the funeral procession.
