Needham Preston "Shorty" Talton passed away Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, in Lancaster, Ohio.
Shorty was born in Johnston County Dec. 23, 1926, to the late Roby and Eva Lewis Talton. He was married to the late Georgia Ann Johnson Talton.
Shorty retired from the United States Navy after 22 years of service, and proudly served his country during World War II, Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Bronze Star while serving his country.
Shorty also retired from Wayne Roofing, and was a member of Ray of Hope Church.
Graveside services will be held Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, at 2 p.m. in Wayne Memorial Park with full military honors, with the Rev. Tony Kopanksi officiating.
Shorty is survived by his daughter, Joan Talton Osborne and husband, Joe, of Canal Winchester, Ohio; son, Roger Talton and wife, Julie, of LaGrange; grandchildren, Becky Tyndall and husband, Shawn, Rusty Wiggins and wife, Tessa, Lynn Smith and husband, Brian, Eddie Bass and wife, Letichia, Michael Osborne and Shana Huitger; and 14 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his son, William Talton; his first wife, Otena Talton Quinn; and two stepdaughters, Betty Wiggins and Carol Bass.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the home of Roger and Julie Talton, 102 Eastwind Drive, LaGrange.
