FREMONT -- Leah Howell Bass, 87, passed away Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home in Fremont.
Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Fremont.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Bass is survived by her son, Bonnie Hugh Bass and wife, Faye, of Fremont; a brother, Kenneth Howell of Pikeville; three sisters, Juanita Williams of Richlands, Marguerite Sullivan and husband, Ray, of Goldsboro and Judith Justus of Virginia; two grandchildren, Ken Bass and wife, Michelle, and Ricky Bass; four great-grandchildren, Richard and Cierra Bass and Kenny and Allysa Webster.
She was preceded in death by her father, Curtis Howell; her mother, Edna North Gurley; her husband, Milford Luther Bass; two brothers, Elton "Buddy" Howell and C. F. Howell; and two sisters, Louise Dail and Alease Williams.
Although flowers are welcome, memorial contributions may be directed to Crosspointe Baptist Church, 400 E. Main St., Fremont, N.C., 27830.
