RALPH HAROLD IVIE

Retired Senior Master Sgt. Ralph Harold Ivie, Goldsboro, was born in East Prairie, Mo., May 18, 1931.

Beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away Oct. 16, 2012, peacefully in his home surrounded by his family.

Mr. Ivie served in both the United States Army and United States Air Force, retiring from the Air Force after 24 years. He was a veteran of the Korean War and the Vietnam War, and served tours in Thailand and the United Kingdom.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 52 years, Carole Ivie; three daughters, Vicki Farmer and husband, John, of Durham, Dawn Carr of Rosewood and Kelly Besecker and husband, Brandon, of Wilmington; a daughter-in-law, Debbie Ivie of Michigan; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and four brothers, Ray Ivie and wife, Ruth, of East Prairie, Jimmy Ivie of East Prairie, Mo., Roy Ivie and wife, Barbara, of Cape Missouri and Russell Ivie of Florida.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Barry Ivie; brother, Walter Ivie; three sisters, Geneva, Martha and Lila; and grandson, Jaime Ivie.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro.

The family will receive friends beginning at 1 p.m. until 1:45 p.m.
