Mansel Garfield "Skeet" Yelverton, 56, died Tuesday at the Veterans Hospital in Durham.
Graveside service will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.
Visitation will be an hour prior to the service at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home.
Born in Wayne County, he was the son of the late James Patrick Yelverton and Mary Moses Yelverton.
He is survived by five children.
