HAZEL MAE ALLEN

Mrs. Hazel Mae Allen, 85, lovingly known by her family and friends as "the chief," 905 E. Pine St., Goldsboro, departed her earthly life Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012, at her residence.

Hazel was born in Wayne County Jan. 1, 1927, to the late Mr. Jonathan Moses and the late Mrs. Mary Lou Moore.

She received her education in the public schools of Wayne County.

"The chief" was a member of New Stony Hill United Holy Church.

Hazel was employed with O'Berry Center, and served as a custodian technician prior to her retirement.

Funeral service will be conducted Friday, Sept. 28, 2012, at 11 a.m. at New Stony Hill United Holy Church, 1003 Poplar St. Extension, Goldsboro. Elder Howard McNair will officiate. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, 805 U.S. 117 Bypass South, Goldsboro.

Also, a public viewing will be held Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012, at McIntyre Funeral Home, 900 S. George St., Goldsboro, from 2 to 6 p.m. The family will be present from 5 to 6 p.m. to receive friends and other family members.

Mrs. Allen leaves to cherish her loving and precious memories three daughters, Maxine Allen and her special friend, Ronald Williams, of West haven, Conn., Thelma Allen of Goldsboro and Sherry Allen Hayward and husband, Robert, of Bridgeport, Conn.; two sons, Jhan Allen and wife, Gwendolyn, and Randy Allen all of Goldsboro; two sisters, Linda Moses of Columbus, Ga., and Alice Moses of Gainsville, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Mirian Moses of Bronx, N.Y.; 15 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; special friends, Pearl Lamb, Janice Lamb and Deqonte Vann; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family will assemble Friday, Sept. 28, 2012, at the residence of the Allen family, 905 E. Pine St., Goldsboro, one hour prior to the funeral at 9:55 a.m. in preparation for the funeral procession.
