DOROTHY F SULLIVAN

Dorothy Futrell Sullivan, 93, died Wednesday at the Brian Center.

Funeral services will be held Thursday 7 p.m. at Stoney Creek Free Will Baptist Church, 752 Stoney Creek Church Road. The Rev. Gary Bailey and the Rev. Barry Williamson will officiate.

Family will receive friends following the service.

Committal service will be in the church cemetery Friday at noon.

Surviving are her only daughter, Mary Susan Hicks Thornton (Bud) of Pikeville; five grandchildren, Melody H. James (Phil) of Goldsboro, William Hicks his friend, Sylvia Sloan, and Garry Hicks (Vickie) both of Pikeville, Larry Hicks (Melissa) of Snow Hill, Frances H. Mandeville (Marc) of Pikeville; six great-grandchildren, Rebecca G. James, Destiney R. Hicks, Joanna A. James, Susan D. Hicks, Hannah N. Mandeville and Frank M. Mandeville; and sisters-in-law, Hazel H. Sullivan and Hattie Lou Futrelle both of Goldsboro.

A native of Wayne County, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Clifton L. Sullivan; parents, Harriet Cornelia Combs Futrell and Henry Carson Futrell Sr.; and siblings, Percy, Willie, Albert, Roland, Louanner, Charlie, Selma, Carson, Esper and Foy.

Dorothy was the last surviving family member of her generation.

Mrs. Sullivan was a past treasurer and the last charter member of Stoney Creek Home Extension Club.

She was a member of Stoney Creek Free Will Baptist Church and the Faith Sunday school class.

She wrote and published the history of Stoney Creek Free Will Baptist Church.

The family would like to give special thanks for the care, concern and understanding to the staff and administration of the Brian Center of Goldsboro and many sitters over the years.
