KINSTON -- John Paul Casey of Kinston went to be with the Lord Aug. 30, 2012.

John Paul was a lifetime farmer.

He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where he was active on the administrative board and the United Methodist Men. He also served as a church trustee and on the building committee to build the education wing and the fellowship building.

John Paul served on the LCFSA committee for 30 years, and was a member of Wheat Swamp Ruritan Club for more than 30 years.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Frances D. Casey and Verna T. Casey.

John Paul was the son of the late Lida Sutton and Harvey Casey Sr. of the Elroy community in Wayne County.

A service of remembrance will be held Monday, Sept. 3, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Rouse Funeral Home, with the Rev. Vito Bisogno officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.

John Paul is survived by his daughters, Martha Wade and husband, Charles, of Kinston and Paula Sutton and husband, Marvin, of LaGrange; his stepdaughters, Grace Price and Edith Pulliam; stepsons, Wiley Thompson and wife, Sandra, and Billy Thompson and wife, Susan, all of Goldsboro; four grandchildren, Debbie Haskins and husband, Kerry, of Lenoir City, Tenn., and children, Casey, Maddie and John Colby, Chuck Wade and wife, Ginny, of Kinston and daughter Morgan, Kathryn Moore and husband, George, of Snow Hill and daughter, Anna Grace, Tammy Malone and husband, Stokes, of LaGrange and children, Sutton and Payton, and Paul Sutton and wife, Morgan, of Winterville and son, Noah; six stepgrandchildren; and seven stepgreat-grandchildren.

John Paul is also is survived by a brother, Alex Casey of Goldsboro; a brother-in-law, Fred Chancy of Kinston; and sisters-in-law, Esther Casey and Elsie Powell of Goldsboro.

Special thanks to caregivers, Lillian Paderick, Wanna Valenzuela, Lucille Harrison, Shelia Gurganus and Lynne Nethkin.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home, and at other times will be at the home.
