HENRY HERBERT 'JABBO' VANN SR.

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- Henry Vann, formerly of Mount Olive, died Aug. 19, 2012, at Veteran's Hospice Center in Philadelphia, Pa., after a brief illness.

He was the son of the late Robert Henry Bennett and Maude Vann.

He was also predeceased by his first wife, Daphne Vann, and stepmother, Lillie Bennett Greenfield.

Henry was a graduate of Carver High School class of 1950, and a member of Carver Alumni and Friends Association.

He served his country in the United States Marines, and retired from the United States Postal Service.

He is survived by his wife, Sarah Vann of the home; daughters, Angela (Marcus) Hammett of Nebraska and Tiffany Bacon of Philadelphia; and sons, Henry Jr., George of Philadelphia and Sgt. 1st Class Jonathan Vann of Fort Benning, Ga.

He is also survived by six grandchildren; a great-grandchild; two brothers, Earthel (Irene) Bennett of Oklahoma and Lonnie Bennett of Delaware; three sisters, Bobbie Bennett, Betty Bennett and Bebra (Lynwood) Robinson of Mount Olive; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Private arrangements will take place in Philadelphia, Pa.
