VIOLA KORNEGAY FOWLER

April 19, 1933-June 25, 2012

Viola Kornegay Fowler, 79, passed away Monday morning at Vidant Duplin Hospital in Kenansville.

Born in Duplin County to the late Richard and Beulah Summerlin Kornegay, she was the wife of the late Gordon Fowler.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Elbert Kornegay, and a granddaughter, Shelley Marie White.

She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Mount Olive.

A service to celebrate Viola's life will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, with interment to follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

Family members will greet friends Wednesday night from 7 to 9 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home and at other times will be at the home Creighton and Crystal Fowler, 348 Pate Pond Road, Mount Olive, N.C., 28365.

She is survived by her children, Selina Fowler Temple, Melodie Fowler Jackson and husband, Patrick, Creighton D. Fowler and wife, Crystal, Jennifer F. Blizzard and husband, Johnny, and Paul Dudley Fowler; her sisters, Clara Padgett and husband, Melvin, Dealie Langston, Joyce Stallings and husband, W.C., Eva Lockamy and husband, Donnie, and Kathy Pike and husband, Johnny; her brothers, John Kornegay and wife, Beverly, and Buddy Kornegay and wife, Willa Jean; grandchildren, Victoria Jade Fowler, Colton Wade Fowler, Christopher Ryan Killette and Robin Alyce Killette; and two great-grandchildren, Morgan Alana Fowler and Skylar Reigh Quick.
