ROCKY MOUNT -- The Rev. Calvin Hargrove Jr., 80, Rocky Mount, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, June 16, 2012, at the Veterans Hospital in Durham.
Born Sept. 23, 1930, he was the son of the late Calvin Hargrove Sr. and Estella Smith Hargrove.
He was married to the late Gladys Burden Hargrove.
He is survived by two children, Carol Ann H. Whitehead of Rocky Mount and Calvin "Devon" (Jackie) Hargrove III of Durham; a brother, William "Jim" Hargrove of Goldsboro; two sisters, Margaret H. Daniels of Goldsboro and Ruth H. Breaux of Houston, Texas; and a host of family and friends.
He was preceded in death by seven brothers, Robert, Luby, Ezzra, Aster, Clyde, Harrington and Grove Cleveland Hargrove, and three sisters, Marian H. Gillian, Minnie H. Flowers and Mildred Hargrove.
The family will receive friends for visitation Friday, June 22, 2012, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Morgan Funeral Home, 320 S. Glendale Ave. in Rocky Mount.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 23, at Metropolitan Baptist Church, 1213 Leggett Road in Rocky Mount.
