Herman Paul Powell Jr., 75, passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2012, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Paul was born in Wayne County July 4, 1936, to the late Herman Paul Powell Sr. and Nell Parrish Powell.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army, where he attained the rank of CWO4.
Paul retired from Civil Service at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base.
A service of remembrance for Paul will be held Saturday, June 16, 2012, at 10 a.m. at St. Francis Episcopal Church. Interment will be in Willow Dale Cemetery with military honors.
Paul is survived by his wife, Betsy B. Powell; his children, Tres Powell of Raleigh and David Powell of Goldsboro; his sister-in-law, Norma Powell; his nephew, William Powell Jr. and wife, Chassity; his niece, Kim Powell; and great-niece, Annabelle Powell.
In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his brother, William E. "Billy" Powell Sr.

The family will receive friends Saturday following the service at the church, and other times at his home.
