Jimmy Ray Mitchell, 75, passed away Saturday, June 2, 2012, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by his loving family.
Jimmy was born in Wayne County Sept. 24, 1936, to the late A.J. and Minnie Anderson Mitchell.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with pastor Aaron Murray and pastor Joshua Overton officiating. Interment will follow in Anderson Family Cemetery.
Jimmy is survived by his wife, Alice Faye Strickland Mitchell; sons, Jay Michael (Diane), Scott (Michelle) and Rob (April); grandchildren, Elizabeth Mitchell Murray (Aaron), Sarah, Hannah, Ethan, Claire, Darryl (Ashley), Brooke Mitchell Overton (Joshua) and Austin; his great-granddaughter, Alaina Faith Overton; his brothers, Zeb, Bruce (Shelby) and A.J. Jr. (Martha); sisters, Annette Carter (Eddie) and Lorraine Carter; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth Mitchell Anderson (Lester), and brother-in-law, Johnny Carter.
The family will receive friends Monday evening June 4, 2012, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, and at other times at the home of Rob and April Mitchell.
