Max Dean Hill, 58, died early Thursday morning at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

Born in Wayne County, he was the son of the late James Edward Hill and Ruth Woodard Hill.

He was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Jennifer Kaye Hill; a sister, Faye Capps; a brother-in-law, Ray Capps; and a sister-in-law, Judy Hill.

He was a veteran of the North Carolina National Guard, and was the owner of Hill's Plumbing Co.

A service to celebrate Max's life will be held Saturday at 6 p.m. at Antioch Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. K.L. Buffaloe officiating. A graveside service will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery.

Family members will greet friends Saturday evening at the church immediately following the service, and at other times will be at the home.

Max is survived by his wife, Pam Barbour Hill; two sons, Michael Joseph Hill and wife, Dianna, and Patrick Dean Hill and wife, Jamie, all of Goldsboro; sisters, Jean Hartley and husband, Herbert, Carol Gerencser and husband, Steve, Linda Morris and husband, Karl, Donna Keen and husband, Buddy, and Susan Peedin and husband, Larry; brothers, Charles Hill and wife, Carol, Harold Hill, Ronnie Hill and wife, Vickie, Olin Hill and wife, Marion, Ricky Hill and wife, Cindy, and Kent Hill; and grandchildren, Brittany Hill, Derek Hill, Mary Hill, Noah Hill, Tristan Hill and Hannah Coffey.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to the Antioch Presbyterian Church, 2306 Old Smithfield Road, Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.
