CALYPSO -- Doris W. Flowers, 88, died Monday, March 19, 2012, at Life Care Hospital of Rocky Mount.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 22, at Calypso Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Nick Nielsen and Dr. Roger Horne officiating. Burial will follow in Calypso Cemetery.
Visitation will be at home of Bill and Janet Rose Wednesday, March 21, from 6 to 8 p.m., 108 E. Cameron St., Calypso.
Miss Flowers had been a longtime Wilmington resident, and had been employed for 40 years as bookkeeper with Kingoff's Jewelry Store.
She was a charter member of the Wilmington American Business Women's Association, and was a former member and elder of Westminister Presbyterian Church of Wilmington.
Upon her retirement, she returned to her native Calypso and again worshipped at Calypso Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carnot Flowers and Annie Faison Flowers; three brothers, Lawrence, Thomas and Joe Flowers; and a nephew, Micky Davis.
She is survived by a sister, Ellen Flowers Davis of Spartanburg, S.C.; two nephews, Samuel Flowers of Rocky Mount and Thomas L. Flowers of Pikeville; three nieces, Margaret Flowers Talton of Goldsboro, Janet Flowers Rose of Calypso and Jo Davis Browning of Spartanburg; along with all their families.
Flowers are welcome or memorial gifts may be presented to Calypso Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 321, Calypso, N.C., 28325.
