MCLEAN 'MAC' TAYLOR

Sept. 16, 1930-Feb. 14, 2012

KINSTON -- McLean "Mac" Taylor, 81, went to be with his heavenly father Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2012.

Mac was born in Lenoir County to Willie and Eva Taylor Sept. 16, 1930.

He served in the United States Navy from 1947 to 1948.

He married Elva Jarman Taylor, the woman of his dreams, April 5, 1952.

Mac was preceded in death by father and mother, Willie and Eva Taylor, brothers; "Shot" and Jack Taylor; sister, Eloise Taylor; and grandchildren, Taylor and Katlyn Humphrey.

He was a lifelong member of Rivermont Baptist Church, holding numerous leadership positions, and served his God faithfully.

Mac retired from Seymour Johnson Air Force Base after 31 years.

Mac was well known as an avid gardener. He was a quiet and gentle man and a loving and caring husband, daddy, grandpa and papa.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Elva, daughter, Beverly Humphrey and husband, Wayland; sons, Dennis Taylor and wife, Rhonda, and Keith Taylor and friend, Gail; and brothers, Eugene Taylor, Bill Taylor and Willard "Boss" Taylor and wife, Joan.

He is also survived by his grandchildren, Carly Humphrey, Megan Taylor, Matt Taylor, Laney Harrold, Josh Taylor and Zach Taylor; great-grandchildren, Logan and Olivia Harrold and Kale Taylor; and an extended family and special friends.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012, at Rivermont Baptist Church, with pastor Ronnie Davis officiating.

The family will receive friends following the funeral service at the church.

The burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 17, 2012, at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
