INEZ BATTS PATE

PIKEVILLE -- Inez Batts Pate, 93, 801 Nahunta Road, went to be with her Lord and savior Monday, Feb. 13, 2012, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home in Fremont. Burial will follow at Pikeville Cemetery.

The family will receive friends prior to the funeral from 2 to 2:45 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Pate was born in Wilson County Dec. 8, 1918, to the late Thomas and Martha Hill Batts.

She was a member of St. Joseph United Methodist Church in Pikeville and United Methodist Women.

She is survived by three sons, Tommy Pate and wife, Marjorie, of Pikeville, Richard Pate and wife, Rita, of Goldsboro and Harry Pate and wife, Mary, of Greenville, S.C.; a daughter, Janet Pate Barfield and husband, David, of Goldsboro; four grandchildren, Jeff Barfield and wife, Dale, Thomas Pate and wife, Dana, Martha Gurley and husband, Brent, and Taylor Pate; eight great-grandchildren; and brothers-in law, Charles Lanier and Lee Pate Jr. and wife, Shirley.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Pate was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert Lee Pate; brothers, Hubert and Howard Batts; sisters, Ruth Batts and Miriam Lanier; and her grandson, Rex Barfield.

Although flowers are welcome, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph United Methodist Church in Pikeville or Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro.
