MOUNT OLIVE -- Pansy W. Smith, 75, departed this earthly life peacefully, on Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011, at Willow Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011, at 11 a.m. at the Holy Temple Church, 405 Parker St., Calypso, with the Rev. John E. Whichard officiating. Interment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park Cemetery South, 2925 S. U.S. Hwy. 117, Dudley. A public viewing will be held on Monday, Dec. 26, 2011, at McIntyre Funeral Home and Florist, 401 S. Center St., Mount Olive, 28365, from 2 until 6 p.m.

Pansy was born in Duplin County on July 28, 1936, to the late Dorothy Little and Howard Waters.

She was educated in the Duplin County school system and graduated from Douglas High School in Warsaw.

Pansy worked in the Duplin County school system and at Cates Pickle Company until her retirement.

She is survived by her husband, Sulley M. Blount; 12 children, Dwayne Washington and wife, Juanita, Vickie Washington, Pamela Washington, Billie Washington, Marcus Smith, Sherry Smith, Wilbur Smith, Mary Smith, Hope Smith, Curtis Blount, Rochelle Blount and husband, Michael, and Edward Blount; one brother, George Little and wife, Clara; two sisters, Peggy Jean Little and Ida Mae Leach; two adopted daughters, Joyce Harding and Lucita Lyons; two special friends, Ruth Carlton and Betty Boykin and husband, Monte; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends at the residence in Mount Olive, where family and friends will assemble one hour prior to the funeral in preparation for the funeral procession.
