LAGRANGE -- Charlie Carl "C.B." Sutton, 97, LaGrange, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2011.
C.B. was born May 4, 1914, in Wayne County to the late Charlie Benjamin Sutton and Willie Smith Sutton. C.B.'s wife of 75 years, Marjorie Wilson Sutton, preceded him in death April 22, 2011.
He operated C.B.
Sutton General Store for
many years, and enjoyed gardening.
A service of remembrance will be held Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011, at 7 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home, with Scott Hardy and the Rev. Tony McLamb officiating. Interment will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery.
C.B. is survived by four daughters, Mary Ann Sutton Bartlett of LaGrange, Faye Sutton Hardy and husband, Baxter, of Jason, Rebecca "Becky" Sutton of LaGrange and Alma Sutton Strickland and husband, Bobby, of Goldsboro; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, C.B. was preceded in death by two sons-in-law, Emmett Bartlett and David Kneeshaw; four sisters, Thelma S. Waters, Fannie S. Weeks, Gertrude S. Thompson and Myrtie S. Thigpen; and three brothers, William H. Sutton, Benjamin L. Sutton and John James Sutton.
The family will receive friends Wednesday following the service, and at other times they will be at the home of Mary Ann Bartlett, 264 N. Beston Road, LaGrange.
