LAGRANGE -- Helen Harper Beamon went to be with her Lord and savior Monday, Sept. 5, 2011, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in, surrounded by her loving husband and children.

The words of Proverbs 31: 28-29 honor her best: "Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. There are many virtuous and capable women in the world, but you surpass them all."

A native of Greene County, she was born July 18, 1939, the daughter of Albert and Lillie Mae Carraway Harper.

She was an avid homemaker and an accomplished seamstress.

Her greatest love was for her family, especially her babies.

Helen was a member of Garris Chapel United Methodist Church in LaGrange.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Nell Harper, C.H. Harper and Lyman Harper.

Left to cherish her memory are her devoted husband, George Edward "Tommy" Beamon; daughters, Wendy Beamon Whitfield and husband, Ricky, of LaGrange and Robin Beamon Lee and husband, Kendall, of Deep Run; sons, T.C. Beamon and wife, Katherine, of Kinston and John Beamon and wife, Patti, of LaGrange; grandchildren, Dana Sutton and husband, Ron, of LaGrange, Brandy Edwards and husband, Thomas, of Grifton, Courtney Lee and Blake Lee both of Deep Run, Andrew Beamon and Zander Beamon both of Kinston, Andrew Manning of LaGrange and Benjamin Manning of Honolulu, Hawaii; great-grandchildren, Evan Sutton and Ella Sutton; sisters, Minnie Mae Joyner of Hookerton, Rachel Outlaw of Kinston, Ann Hart of Snow Hill, Linda Roberts of Pikeville and Carol Coffey of Wilmington; and a brother, Harold Harper of Snow Hill.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, at the chapel of Taylor-Tyson Funeral Service, with the Rev. Jerry Mitchell officiating. Committal services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Snow Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service Wednesday, and other times at the residence, 4677 Wheat Swamp Road, LaGrange.

Though flowers are appreciated, the family requests memorials be made in her memory to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, attn: April Brantham, 2402 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.

The family would like to thank the staff of Lenoir Memorial Hospital and Greendale Forest for the care given to Mrs. Beamon during her many stays over the recent years.

Additionally, there are not words to express the gratitude of the Beamon family for the loving care provided to Helen and the family by the staff of Kitty Askins Hospice Center. The last days of her life were full of compassion and love, and the kindness shown will not be forgotten.
