MARTHA HOWELL MUMFORD

PRINCETON -- Martha Howell Mumford, 92, died peacefully Saturday, May 28, 2011.
Born in Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late Luther H. and Hattie Mae Davis Howell.
Martha was a longtime member of Princeton Baptist Church, and a much loved member of the Princeton community.
She owned and operated Mumford's Florist from her home for many years, and was well known in the floral industry for her talent and skill.
Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Alden Mumford; an infant daughter, Linda Mumford; her son, Luther Mumford; and a daughter, Betty Ruth Mumford.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 1, at 2 p.m. at Princeton Baptist Church, with Pastor Dwayne Batten and Pastor Dennis Pollock officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
Martha leaves behind her beloved daughter, Alice Faye Mumford, to whose comfort and care she had dedicated her entire life. She is also survived by a sister, Daphne Penuel of Charlotte, N.C.; grandsons, Paul and Dan Mumford, and their stepmother, Sunita Mumford, all of Florida; and several loving nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon from 1 to 2 p.m. in the music room of Princeton Baptist Church.
