FLORENCE H. PERKINS

March 24, 1937- April 12, 2011

Florence Hall Perkins, 74, died Tuesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital, following a short battle with cancer.

She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Katie Lee Hall.

She married Robert E. "Bob" Perkins in 1952.

She graduated from the former Atlantic Christian College in Wilson, taught school at Brogden School and became one of the first female real estate brokers in Wayne County.

In 1974, her great love of travel led Florence to establish Per-Flo Tours, which is still in operation.

Graveside services will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. at Pine Forest United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will greet friends Thursday from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home, with a procession to the cemetery to follow.

In addition to her husband of 59 years, Florence is survived by her children, Tim E. Perkins of Cape Carteret and Vivian Lewis of Newport; a granddaughter, Amber Lewis; a great-granddaughter, Brielle Maxwell; two brothers, Auburn Hall of Cary and Steve Hall of Pikeville; and three sisters, Christine Deans of Florida, Bonnie Neal of Goldsboro and Kay Wilson of Archdale.
