EDWARD E. HERRING

DURHAM -- Edward E. Herring, 85, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2011 at The Shannon Gray Rehabilitation Center.

Mr. Herring was born in Wayne County, the son of the late Addison Herring and Pauline Gertrude Ellis Price. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vera Lee Cates Herring, and his son, Jerry Wayne Quinn.

Mr. Herring is survived by his sons, Edward E. Herring, Jr. and wife, Pamela, and William B. Quinn and wife, Kay; his daughter, Patricia Herring Muhammad and husband, Wajeh; his grandchildren, Baxter Quinn, Flannery Q. Norton, Denise Capps, Kim Quinn and Carly Herring; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Padgett and Peggy Farmer; and a daughter-in-law, Kim Hawks.

Mr. Herring attended N.C. State University and was employed by Federated Mutual Insurance for over 25 years.

A graveside service will be held today at 2 p.m. at Maplewood Cemetery by Scott A. Hovey. Masonic rites will be given by Lodge No. 352.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Masonic Home for Children at 600 College St., Oxford N.C. 27565.

The family is being assisted in Durham by Clements Funeral Service, Inc.
