SEVEN SPRINGS -- Shelby Jean "Head" Mitchell, 74, of Seven Springs, died Monday morning, Jan. 17, 2011, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
This Wayne County native was the daughter of the late Walter Scott Head and Lucy Grady Head, and the widow of Tommy Mitchell.
She was a member of Seven Springs Baptist Church, and had been a longtime resident of Aurora, N.C.
She is survived by a daughter, Cynthia Townsend and husband, Franklin, of Seven Springs; a son, Walter Scott Daniluk of Florida; her grandchildren, Paige Dawson, Elizabeth Penny, Nikki Daniluk and Chris Daniluk; and a great-grandchild, Nathan Dawson.
She was also the mother of the late John Wayne Daniluk.
Services will be held by the graveside Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Pineview Cemetery in Seven Springs.
The family will greet relatives and friends at the cemetery following the service, and at the Townsend residence at 684 Camp Jubilee Road in Seven Springs, at other times.
