MARTHA TROUTMAN BENNETT

Martha Troutman Bennett, 90, died Wednesday at her residence.

Born in Iredell County, she was the daughter of the late Harrison and Celeste Lippard Troutman, and wife of the late Mordecai Bennett.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Rufus Bennett; brothers, Elwyn Troutman and Loy Troutman; and sister, Anna T. Waller.

Mrs. Bennett was a member of Mount Olive Presbyterian Church, and was a former active member of Calypso United Methodist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher and member of the Methodist Women.

She was a member of Smith Chapel Extension Homemakers, where she served in various offices of leadership throughout the years.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Mount Olive Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Steven Wicks officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

Family members will greet friends at the church from 1 to 2 p.m. and at other times at the home.

Mrs. Bennett is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Gordon and Selena Bennett of Mount Olive; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Charles Game of Asheboro; seven grandchildren, Laura Bennett, Graham Bennett, Paul Game, Chris Game, Martia Rachman, Greg Bennett and Cai Bennett; and six great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to the Mount Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund at 105 N. Breazeale Ave., Mount Olive, N.C., 28365.

The family would especially like to thank her devoted caretaker, Charlene Robinson.
