Died Nov. 2, 2010

Clyde Edward King, 86, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2010, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 5, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Madison Avenue Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Bob Fulkerson and the Rev. O.S. Hawkins officiating. The burial will follow the service at Willow Dale Cemetery.

Clyde is survived by his wife, Norma Surles King, his three daughters, Norma King Blackman and husband, Dr. Jesse Blackman, of Fremont, N.C., Princie King Evans and husband, Doug Evans, of Wilson, N.C., and Janet King Peacock and husband, John Peacock, of Goldsboro, N.C.; his eight grandchildren, Dr. Jay Blackman and wife, Dr. Emily Blackman, of Chattanooga, Tenn., EGie Blackman of Raleigh, N.C., Blythe Evans Elliott and husband, Brian Elliott, of Wilson, N.C., Miranda Evans of Raleigh, N.C., Sam Evans of Wilson, N.C., and Mary Clyde Peacock, Hadley Peacock and Mallory Peacock all of Goldsboro; and a great-grandchild, Talley Blackman of Chattanooga, Tenn.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Fellowship of Christian Athletes of Wayne County, c/o Will Collins, 109 Ellington Way, LaGrange, N.C., 28551; Madison Avenue Baptist Church; or Clyde and Norma King Baseball Scholarship of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Attn: Athletic Department.

The family will receive friends Thursday, Nov. 4, 2010, starting at 6:30 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
