Michael Lamont Faison "Bird" 50, 762 W. Oak St., Goldsboro, was born May 29, 1960, to Edna Faison and Leroy Washington in Wayne County. Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2010, God sent down his angels to take our beloved son of God to his final resting place.

Michael was a graduate of Goldsboro High School class of 1978. He was employed at O'Berry Center as a developmental technician I. Later he transitioned to Wayne County Public Schools as a cafeteria employee for many years.

Michael decided to further his education by attending North Carolina Wesleyan College in Rocky Mount, N.C., where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in business administration and computer information systems.

Michael wanted to spread his love of knowledge by returning to Wayne Public Schools, where he was an instructional assistant at School Street School for a while.

Finally, Michael, with love and his passions of helping, became employed at Cherry Hospital for a period of time.

Michael's hobbies included cooking, watching movies and shopping. He was a friendly and outgoing person, who was willing to help anyone or anything no matter what.

Loving memories will forever be etched in the hearts of many such as by his mother, Edna Gray Faison Washington; father, Leroy Washington; a brother, Anthony Faison; three sisters: Synovia Washington and Benita Ann Pridgen both of Goldsboro, N.C., and Belinda Evon Washington of Virginia Beach, Va.; seven nephews; nine nieces; 11 great-nieces and nephews; and a host of family and friends.

A visitation for Mr. Faison will be held today from 3 to 7 p.m. at E.M. Matthews Funeral Home and Cremations Inc. Celebration of life services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at St. James AME Zion Church, after which Mr. Faison, along with his adored family, will be escorted to Old Mill Cemetery for interment rites.
