CHARLOTTE -- Addie Mae Bordeaux, daughter of the late Jim and Ruth Bordeaux, was born in Mount Olive, N.C., Jan. 19, 1929. She died Tuesday.

She graduated from Mount Olive High School as valedictorian in 1947, and completed the commercial course at Women's College of the University of North Carolina 1948.

Addie retired from St. Peter's Episcopal Church as financial secretary in 1994. Her retirement career was driving cars for Adesa Auto Auction and Triangle Rent-a-Car.

Flower gardening, bridge, letter writing and driving were her passions. She loved animals and visits to zoos.

Surviving her are her daughters from her marriage to Roger C. Dickinson, L. Suzanne Dickinson and Julie Dickinson Joyce and husband, Michael Joyce; a brother, Kenneth R. Bordeaux of Cary, N.C.; nephew and wife, Larry, and Teresa Bordeaux; and great-nephews Duke and Brian Bordeaux.

Addie was predeceased by her husband, Donald S. Robbins, in 1993.

A memorial service will be held at Holy Comforter Episcopal Church Friday, Oct. 8, at 11 a.m. Reception to follow. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, at Grantham Best Family Cemetery in Wayne County.

Family will receive friends and relatives at the cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Charlotte, North Carolina Zoo or Riverbanks Zoo of Columbia, S.C.
