VICTOR CORBETT

NEWTON GROVE -- Mr. Victor Corbett, 66 died peacefully Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2010, at Wayne Memorial Hospital, with his family by his side.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey Victor and Mallie M. Corbett, and a brother, J. D. Corbett.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Lottie; three sons, Jason Corbett and wife, Dawn, Steven Corbett of Newton Grove and Neil Corbett of Clinton; five loving grandchildren, Dawson, Kade, Andy, Hailey and Dylan; a brother, Wayne Corbett and wife, Cindy, of New London, N.C.; and his best friend, Rusty.
Victor was a lifelong farmer, and worked at Cherry Hospital for 30 years, where he retired.
He enjoyed visiting with family and friends when he wasn't busy selling peanuts, watermelons, cantaloupes or lots of other vegetables at the local farm sales or down near the coast at his "favorite spots" as he called them. He loved going to the coast or to the pond across from his house to fish, and throwing a fish fry or barbecue for family and friends.
The family will receive friends Friday, Oct. 1, from 6 to 8 p.m. at West and Dunn Funeral Home in Newton Grove, and other times at the home of Jason and Dawn Corbett, 921 Emmet Thornton Road in Newton Grove.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 2, at West and Dunn Funeral Home chapel in Newton Grove at 2 p.m., officiated by the Rev. Roger Banks. Interment will follow at Corbett Family Cemetery.
